It's not dark out. You don't even have your lights out. How can you think about going home?

Did a simple window trim that of course wasn't so simple. Had colonial casing on it originally

Image

Then they took off the casing and left the sill for the guy to do the tiling.

Of course now the window jamb is about 3/8" below the surface of the tile and he wants it to be picture framed. So I have to devise a system to accommodate the difference between the tile and somehow make a clean cut on the sill to make the picture frame work.

So I took a combination of 1", 7/8" and 13/16" stock and made a frame.

Image

The individual pcs had large rabbets on the backside which made the inside of the window trim 7/8" thick but the outside trim only 7/16" thick. I had to go over 3/8" thick time with some thinset so I chose 7/16"

Then I used the Fein Multimaster with the half round blade on it and it did a fantastic job (I had nothing to do with it :whistling) of making a pretty clean cut. I told the HO it would not be a pretty cut. It came out nice considering the tight quarters and the faucet. So after that got cut off I had to tune in my rabbets as the bottom one was to wide to fit nicely. Used the battery Makita rear handle saw to take care of that and then used a polyurethane caulk and a few 18ga nails to hold it in place.

First my client didn't have the handles for me to put the panels on. Then after she finally got them I was finishing up the washer/dryer cabinets and had to go onto another clients wainscoting. I told her I would install them before she got the countertops put on. Then the countertops came and I had to put the small refer panel on the cabinet next to the washer/dryer cabinet but that's all I had time to do that week.

So today was the day. I knew it'd take a half day to install them and it did. Put the handle on the door. Read the instructions and they kept talking about the templates. Well there were no stink'n templates. Nice that they were screwed on from behind, I was able to use double sided tape. I taped on some 5/64" thick shims to the edges and pushed it to the tape. Opened the door and put a few screws in. Adjusted the in and out to flush them up and done.

Same thing with the two lower freezer drawers.

Because of the tape side to side wasn't happening. But up, down and in and out worked. With the shims it centered the panels pretty well.

I had a dream and it was this job. Makes up for any pita job I’ve had in a couple years. Installed
425 6” gutter and 125’ downspout in 5 hours.

Guys did spend 2 hours taking them down and cleaning up yesterday. Only reason why didn’t mind helping today lol

When panelized zip rake walls don't match cathedral trusses.

Other than that, this home has gone up well.https://images.platforum.cloud/uploads/20190601/bec440d5038dd5a104a9e1d4517d1bbf.jpg[/IMG[IMGhttps://images.platforum.cloud/uploads/20190601/6c6d844f9b1485cb25aa795ae93f24df.jpg[/IMG[IMG]https://images.platforum.cloud/uploads/20190601/3ec0d0aee00d1ee7ebb86d26fe20882b.jpg[/IMG[IMG]https://images.platforum.cloud/uploads/20190601/70771e2490e872e9cd0a25e80e942c87.jpg[/IMG[IMG]https://images.platforum.cloud/uploads/20190601/b0a4265512c81838ce6320ab7ad5e7b3.jpg[/IMG[IMG]https://images.platforum.cloud/uploads/20190601/c8f6aefc68b3d6a07bf7fe44fdc74bfc.jpg[/IMG[IMG]https://images.platforum.cloud/uploads/20190601/ea74829f5ca3b1b3de4754238e7fbd66.jpg[/IMG

Does the lumber yard start with a Z?

Its my 1st. rodeo so I am still learning carpentry...

It is small potatoes, but packing it out isn't a passable solution. That would allow a hinge point in the wall at cathedral peak. What I'll do is sister full studs from bottom plate to cathedral peak, next to the existing original short studs. The inspector should allow that..being it's such a short wall as well.

Yeah, but we'll at least be able to throw a "ratrun" at peak. I'd consider packing solid too, but plate to plate stud is slightly better.

It's really up to the inspector, and this guy likely won't say anything being he tends to overlook framing as a lower priority.

Not a problem overall, just added work on a "premium" priced panelization.

Another note, one may notice this home has a flush zip to foundation wall, instead of over hanging insulation and zip; with treated 2x2 at sill to foundation transition. That always becomes a risk if concrete walls are out of square or poured proud. The sider will have a few areas to have fun with, but overall it is good.

Been getting close to finishing this reno... Finally...
Our scope of nearly done, but there's been some things I'm not happy with, at all.
But it's not my call to change anything, so it'll be up to the builder if we keep getting work from him.
I've been on the decks for the last three days, and they're almost wrapped up.
I know you full time deck builders would knock these out in a day or two, but I'm trying really hard to at least get this last little bit to look as good as I can to save some face.

Anyhoo... Pics... :
