Plus it hides the cut on the back of the molding. But you can
just caulk that

My new thing is finding the radius of a circle only knowing a chord length and height.

Great for finding the length of your compass arm for striking an arc with only knowing the length of the arc and it's height on a board.

I've wondered about that before. I'm sure I'll need that math at some point.

Just for kicks last year I decided to find the relationship between the length of the sides of a square and the length of the sides of an octagon that fits within that square. Used algebra and the quadratic formula to figure it out and came up with a simple number to multiply the sides of the square by. Of course Google had the same number much faster and easier, but I gave my brain a good exercise.

Speaking of algebra, does anybody use it in the trades? I'd be interested to know it's real life applications other than the real high falutin intellectual stuff.

You usually see that with bullnose corners.

Ellipses are easy. It's just two radii straight up. No need for calculation of 1/2 or a whole ellipse.

Honey do stuff this week for a client, who in turn is honey doing for his client. Fence posts were in order, sure I do that.

Tough digging, did seven of them with the auger, each hole claiming 1.5x the number of sheer bolts as the previous hole.
Image

Finally got to the last hole and it was so rocky we couldn’t get the auger started. Then I remembered I had another tool on site…

Then today we finished our trenches.

We buried some conduit. My client’s guy is doing the cobbles, we just kinda helped get him set up.

Feeling better today and because our family picnic was cancelled because no one knew if all of use would feel good enough to come I decided to go into the shop and remake the box.
Image

All mitered and taped. After the glue dried I cut the box in half.

Lots of testing for the sizing of the drill hole for the Kaizen foam. I ended up tracing it out and taking a picture of it then used my photo editor to make a silhouette and then used the trace function in Lightburn to get it into the laser.
Image
Image

Did some other resizing and testing to make sure it all fit and then burned it with the laser. The thicker stuff got burned clear through the foam while the thin stuff just traced the outline so I could use a knife to finish it off.
Image

Then I filled it up with the tools.

That's where I stopped for the day. Still have to put the logo on the top of the box and put the hinges and latch on. Eventually it'll get a clear coat on it next time I'm running clear in the sprayroom.

What's this laser tool you speak of? Just curious - I'm not gonna be making tool organizers anytime soon. I got a lot of low hanging fruit to get through first, like piles of shovels and milk jugs filled with waste oil.
