Does anyone have any experience with porch.com? I have recently been using homeadvisor and Thumbtack as lead gen for roofing.

Have been asked to join up with porch.com, after looking them up on multiple website and I have seen a lot of bad reviews from other contractors.

You need to hop on the lead quickly

I have used these guys for about a year now.
My Tips
-Once you get the email from them you should immediately call the customer! if you wait an hour or more, chances are they have already found someone.
--They have a pretty good refund policy on bad leads
-- Follow up with the customer to make sure they are happy and can post positive reviews
--You can turn it off whenever you like
--Call your contact person at porch and find out what else they can do for you

All this lead pages are full of it... I heard from a few guys who tried them, they said they start out good and after a while things don't go as expected.

Frankly speaking you and the next 1000 guys pay for the same service, so they don't care from one guy to another as long as they send you whatever and get paid. In between they have to send you BS leads, to keep the cash flowing, some will brush that off and some will raise the issue, they will try to crush it by giving you credit or what ever, and a month down the road they will hit you up again.

If you think about it, if you have a few guys paying for the same service in the surrounding area, you end up competing against more guys and HO has the upperhand in price bargaining, because they will play everyone against each other.

I never understood paying some other website for leads when you can put your own website online and get all the leads you'll ever need if done right. Show up on the first page of google and you are the expert in folks mind, a lead from porch or others and you are just another animal in the herd of contractors they found for the customer.

I did that with some Angie's List salespeople. I'd keep them on the line feeding them bs about how I'm thinking about it but, not quite sure I want to pull the trigger and I need more info about this or that. It was all a ploy to waste their time as they do ours. After a half hour on the phone I'd tell them to call next month after I did more research. Rinse, repeat til they get the message, ain't a sale coming from Al. Fortunately I never showed up on Porch's radar, as there's only so much time for jacking with stupid salespeople.

I have a few issues with Porch, I even let the CEO know them at the JLC show a few years ago.

First, they take everyone's "public" information and create a "Free" listing for your business without your permission. These listings use your name and information to generate traffic to their site. So they use your SEO juice to drive traffic to their site. Then, they advertise their paying contractors on your listing. They even go to the extent to put a "Get a Quote" button that does not send you the info, but sends it to Porch.

I have asked and had my information removed several times. It was finally removed when I had it out during the show with the CEO. I haven't been put back on it since, at least that I can find.

Second, there TOS is terrible. Any of your information, reviews or pictures of jobs are theirs to use as they see fir forever. They can use it as they see fit. So a picture of one of your bathroom remodels can be used in their advertising or even on to attract leads for your competition.

I signed up last week and once I dialed in my ideal lead by refining the type of work I offered I got one lead, none since. It cost me $30 to get that leads' contact info. They charged my card $100 and I now have a $70 credit. Wasn't too happy about that but I am working with that lead on a 30-40k project. No contract signed yet but if it works out then I'd say $30 or even $100 was a good investment.

Can't speak of Porch but I am curious to hear how your experience with TT has been going. I'm on the fence about TT since I've read and watched some reviews of TT recently, dating from last year to now. I understand TOS can change from month to month and have filtered out TT reviews from years past.

If you don't mind sharing, how long have you been using TT? How many jobs have you landed? I currently use Smith and they're pretty decent. Reasonable rates, they don't make you fight tooth and nail for refunds of credits and the UI isn't bad.

Please do not hire PORCH for contractor help, they are not a professional, reliable company. An associate from Porch reached out to me after I purchased a new home to see if I needed any contractors, I did movers and they committed to movers on a certain date and I scheduled pods delivery around movers availability, only to have Porch cancel the movers days later because they stated they could not secure movers after all!!

YES... I bought leads from them and 9 out of 10 were bogus and they had a poor excuse for not reimbursing me. STAY AWAY.
