Porch.com,,,,,,,,,They Use Your Business Name And Redirect Your Calls

Yes folks, Porch.com Uses your business profile and posts a tracking phone number that will make your phone ring-----BUT when you answer no one is there and your potential client is redirected to one of their preferred contractors.

Click the link above and search for your business profile, they have them all posted on their web site

Use your wife's phone and call the tracking number, your business phone will ring, but no one will be there when you answer and you will be redirected to one of their preferred contractors.

This is who they are.....

So as you can see another big boy outfit is out the screw the little guy, like 'service magic' 'home adviser'

Boycott Lowes...

Yep, they have me on there with another phone number.. My phone did not ring at all when I called, just went directly to a voicemail system that said it was after business hours. I left a message for them to call me.

That's pretty ****ing dishonest...

I hope they get a class action law suit that puts them out of business.

I just tore the girl on the phone a new one... Naturally the IT department isnt in yet, but they'll remove the number by the end of the day.

She actually asked for my email address. Yeah, I dont need to be spammed daily also.

Re: Porch.com,,,,,,,,,They Use Your Business Name And Redirect Your Calls

Porch.com appears to be a bait and switch scam, and maybe also some sort of phone-charging scam, and it does appear that Lowes is in on it - porch shows up on the Lowes web site as one of their sites. I called the number that appears under my name, and it's just some random phone operator. The phone call costs $1/minute. The operator wants to have a lengthy discussion about it all. The one I talked to said that my info would be removed in a few hours.

It's the 5th or 6th Google result under the name of my company, so this isn't just if you go to the stupid porch.com website.

Complete scam, clearly misinforming customers. Build your own reputation, get some folks to look you up on-line, and Lowes/porch will re-direct you to someone else. Dishonest. Shame on Lowes.

I will not buy anything at lowes from this point forward! This should be spread far and wide on facebook, twitter word of mouth, anything that will let contractors and customers know what they're doing!!!!

I wish I had the ability to hijack their website and send everyone to Home Advisor.

Did any of you claim and create your own profiles?

I have my own profile that I created and it rings in the next room when I call it.

Sent them a cease and desist letter today. This might explain the weird phone calls I've been getting the past month from people I've "supposedly" done work for, but haven't.

Fair enough. But I don't want those phone calls. I think that for me, those are very low-quality leads, and I don't want the distraction. I might be mistaken, but it's my decision, and having made it, and having made no arrangement with Lowes, it is dishonest of them to use my name and what prospective customers think is my phone number, to advertise and sell the services of some other random contractor.

I have the plugin for FF Do not Track Me, it blocks pretty much all tracking.

That's how they make the big bucks, by stealing off the backs of others.

I did, after getting an email that they were a new listing site. And then I noticed that it's directly tied to Lowes and I had them remove my profile from their site. It struck me as others have said, as a bait and switch that would pull from my own SEO efforts to bring up their site and direct to Lowes preferred contractors.

Re: Porch.com,,,,,,,,,They Use Your Business Name And Redirect Your Calls

I tried the contact button. It brought up a message that said something to the effect of....this contractor is not a verified porch contractor (even though I took all the steps of claiming/verifying my listing)......and went on to recommend their other preferred contractors.
