Hey Guys,

I think my sub is trying to pull a fast one on me. If he didn't run out of shingles I would have missed it. It looks like he is using house wrap under the shingles and he ran out of felt.

He isn't returning my calls...

That is not housewrap. The roll is too short. I wasn't aware that griprite made underlayment/felt, but that's what it looks like. In this case, synthetic felt paper. It also looks like the bottom edge of the felt is over the top edge of the shingles.
So, from that single picture, it would appear that he is trying to protect your house, while he waits on additional shingles.

With a quick goggle search one would see that Grip-Rite does in fact make a roof under layment which this looks to be . So unless you requested regular felt paper he is not pulling no fast one. A lot of roofers don't use felt tar paper anymore for a number of reasons. I have not for years.
So I would not going jumping all over him without knowing the facts.

Jesus Christ. That’s why people hire professionals. Because they arnt expierenced at it. The man was just worried a little. Probably because off the bull**** ass wanna be contractors but are just a “I can do anything guy”. Yeah we all can do anything, it’s whether you do it right or not. But what makes me confused is how a person can expect everyone to know everything otherwise they are an idiot. 100% reality is the man who thinks like that is by far a bigger idiot than the person he is putting down. And go ahead, start calling me stupid and this and that like we are in 3rd grade The **** is predictable 🥱

Just an FYI.. Grip Rite synthetic kind of sucks. I don't mean it performs any worse/better than others, I mean its handling characteristics put it low on the list for me. IIRC, it didn't hold up well to traffic.....fasteners ripped out too easily.

And BTW, this is for those reading the thread who might actually use synthetic from time to time

I've used a few different ones. I'm too tired to remember names. Some were better than others, but all are better than felt.

Once you go to synthetic, you won't go back. Quick and easy to lay. Some are speced to be shot with a roofing gun. Very fast. If you need to leave it in the weather it is like tarping the building.

Being I do pretty much steel roofs when doing a roof I use only synthetic . Hate black foot prints on my metal. If put down right will stay on in the wind , does not wrinkle up if it does get rain on, with construction tape is easy to seal any little hole.

One thing did learn years ago with the stuff is don't use staples if it is going to rain much , will leak. until covered. Don't remember name , but have used some of the better stuff that you can even walk on if wet. which is nice in the fall.
