You could do a mitered return for the base at the stairs. Those look pretty nice.I know. 🙈
Im still there doing tile in a half bath, and a punch list, and trying to figure out how to finish it off.
It’s only 4” tall, so I need to go mess around with it and see if a vertical piece, mitered, will work.
I honestly didn’t know how to do it, so I just had my guy run them out to the end.
Tops of stairs where the second floor baseboard ends at the top step is another one that gets me.
This spot right here. I just run it to the end and paint the end. 😳🙄 Don’t know if that’s the right way to do it.

Never saw that style before. That looks sharp.
Thanks. That was my first trim job, so I wasn't really aware of how they were usually done. I just needed a solution to make it look nice and that's what I came up with.Never saw that style before. That looks sharp.
Looks great! That's the way we've always done them.Thanks. That was my first trim job, so I wasn't really aware of how they were usually done. I just needed a solution to make it look nice and that's what I came up with.
Works good on longer runs as it is it's own element (goes better in combination with wainscotting though) but on shorter ones, to me, looks out of place... but either works and everyone has different tastes... in reality, after looking at it the first time, the homeowner will likely rarely think about it again...Don't like it. I like a nice stringer with the molding on top. Or just nicely fitted treads and risers.
For the one step up, looks nice. I agree about a whole flight, though.Don't like it. I like a nice stringer with the molding on top. Or just nicely fitted treads and risers.
That's cool! Did you reinvent the wheel with common sense? ( Meant in a very good way) That shows the talent, right there. When in doubt, improvise for an elegant solution.Thanks. That's move that been done for many many years. I'm glad someone had a pic of it so I didn't have to draw a pic with my words,, I suck at that. That's cool! Thanks. 👍@Seven-Delta-FortyOne
the step miters look good.
At the top of the stairs, I think the best and only option is to miter return the base into the wall
