It's gonna be beautiful 230 miles from my shop.

 

11 foot maple top I just glued up. Making a four foot desk in the middle flanked by two gun cabinets.

this is the bottom. Put a piece of 6 quarter on the front. That’s all your going to see because it’s going wall to wall.

 

I don't even own a moisture meter.

 

I bought one a long time ago. I thought I might need one because I buy most of my wood in the rough. Turns out a rarely use it. I don’t even keep the battery in it. I bought this maple from someone I never bought from before so I thought I would check it.

 

Probably not a bad idea to check if you don't know they seller.

 

Pretty much done building pieces parts. Some minor assembly and paint is the major work now.

Then I made a jig for the planer to make the door stiles.

And this is what came out

I put a slot for the panel on the edge and cut the miters and a test fit

Put some biscuits in the miters and used a strap to clamp them up.

Hope they fit.

Debating on one 35” wide drawer or two 17 1/2”. I’d like to do one then I only have to make two drawers instead of four. This will be the lower part of the gun cabinets.

 

35” is well wishing the limit of a good slide, this is strictly a design call.

Assuming 2 doors in the gun case section I’d do 2 drawers.

Sanding out the countertop. Using my 25 year old 6 inch Bosch with 100 grit. Then I’ll use my 5 inch Mirka with 150.
