CNC did good but still desire more. Outside dimension of the ellipse wasn't smooth, stairstepped for some reason. And the mating edges were deformed some, had a slight angle. Enough to leave a persistent small gap under clamp pressure. The plywood seemed to be ok, it has a small bump in the inside corner of the rabbet from the return 2nd pass of the router. I cleared this up with a 1/4" chisel using a scraping motion to eliminate it. Still no joy, small gap persisted. Looked at the wood mating edge and that was the edge with the slight angle. No idea how, but there it was.
Image

No way for me to adjust it without likely making things worse. I used the chisel to make a slight dado on the mating surface of the plywood so the top of the joint could get closer to perfect. It was close enough and I glued it.

Already scraped the glue off while it was rubbery. I have, get this - a glue scraper!

Even so, I would just sand it off the next day if it was hard. Not a big deal at all.

I'm not doing it ! It's awful. Wallpaper and LPF. It's commercial space, but I have some standards. I do get more than I quote. This is Massachusets.. It gets expensive because the stupid doctors office below. Im going to lose money this week. It's so late,

Jack an Jill has nothing on this one. If not for the kiddos moving in with their mom wherever she lives, I'd rather drive off the Bourne bridge.
Partition walls set on carpet.
It's so bad I'm batching about it here.

If reggi has a lighter and a can of methanol, that's a good plan

It’s not the first tool I grab in these situations but I do have an arsonists kit in the truck.

Almost ready for stain. Gotta put the bottoms supports on it for the 2 legs and the final sanding for the top. Two toned, wheeeeeeeee. The outside bulnose will be the equivalent of Minwax Ebony and the field will be English Chestnut. Should prove interesting to try to keep the bleeding from the bulnose to the field limited.

Why yes, yes it is. 120 grit mostly on the solid wood and just enough to get rid of the glue. Then 150 over the entire tabletop. In the sprayroom now. I've masked off the outside so I'll be spraying the English Chestnut on the field of the table. My buddy brought up a great point. The bulnose is Ebony which is nearly black. So if I have any bleed over it'll get covered up. Plus I can sand the solid wood pretty hard if necessary to get rid of any bleed over.

Out on a ranch in Fredonia, Mason County. About to build a 2000 sq ft barn and 4k sq ft house for this lady. My superintendent has been cleaning and building a road for a week, meeting Thursday to stake out house and barn, but I wanted to get a preliminary look so I drove her up there, the foundation of her back porch is roughly going to be 6 inches shorter than my tailgate so I put her up there to sit on her porch and take a gander. View is unreal, pics won't do it justice. Being a builder has its stressful and demanding moments but it'd a lot of fun, few things are as cool as seeing someone almost brought to tears about a dream come true. She'll need those for the end, be a cool house.

She is out there alone with a widow who lives across the road - had a pistol and scattered gun but no rifle. I gave her a Howa .300 blackout I never got to like much, ordered an extra magazine for it and showed her how to clean it etc today. Now I have to teach her to shoot it, lol. I sighted it in before I brought it, driving nails

Break ground next week, week after at the latest on the barn. 3 - 4 weeks on house

Looks better in the picture, I'm going to have to tone this thing to get rid of some anomalies. Got a seal coat on it after I took the pic

Pain in the butt. Had a dark stripe going across the grain. Not sure what it was caused by but it's a manufacture defect. Likely a widebelt sanding issue. I got the veneer on particle board to avoid this issue because it's dead flat unlike plywood which is horribly wavy these days. So I had to make a toner and then tone everything but that dark stripe. Worked OK, it's still visible but doesn't stick out like a sore thumb like it did. The backside had the same issue except it was a light stripe.

The back wasn't sanded like the front, and I really didn't give a crap what it looked like. Just wanted it dark so it wouldn't stand out.

After staining, sealing, toning and a gloss clearcoat I removed the masking and sanded any stain leakage which was minimal.
Image

Then I had to remask the field so I could stain the border ebony.
Image

Clear coated the rear of the table with conversion varnish 2 coats, 1 hour. The rest of the table is 2K Poly which takes 45 minutes to dry, sometimes longer.

So tomorrow I'll be masking off the bottom of the table and then spraying the border with 2K sealer and then the gloss so I get about the same build on the edge as I have on the field. Sand everything flat because there will be a ridge where the tape was. Not sure if that will be 2 coats or 3. The final sheen will be a dull semi-gloss. I add 4oz of gloss to the satin and I get a sheen I like.

Seal coat on now. Was hoping for a little more transparency in the grain. Always hard with Ebony to get that perfect balance.

Prime and paint today/tomorrow vanity top and tower cabinet go on first thing in the morning. Tile backsplash on Monday/Tuesday. End wall of the vanity getting trimmed to height today. Had to get a whole box of grout for to fix 3 or 4 pinholes. Installer mixed the whole box and didn't reserve any, so I'm probably gonna start scooping my own reserve into a Ziploc baggie going forward.

And yes, we will be adjusting doors and drawers on the cabinets 😂

At the moment, finish plumbing and lights/accessories install is dovetailing next week nicely with my kitchen project's demo and rough plumbing/electric work that starts on Monday. Homeowners here have been over the moon with the bathroom every time I stop by. Feels good seeing them so happy.

So I have the color scheme set up. Came out great. The line between the stains are crisp and sharp. Of course there's a ridge there but it was expected and when I give it the hard scuff for either the final or next to final coat it'll be smoothed out. I think I'm going to do another gloss coat and then the sheen coat so it has room to get any of the grain that is telegraphing out.

Not sure If I'd like it more with a more transparent grain on the bullnose edge. I think this looks pretty sharp.

Guess I'm a ****ing driveway contractor now, lol. Adding 16 x 29 of concrete to the left of the driveway up to the house in trade a expensive pup my wife wants. Week from Tuesday

The owner has been coming to the Parade for 10 years and follows us on Socials, in our age and peer group but I don't know her - she sealed the deal which should of been in my favor but ended up bring in hers by clapping her hands and saying " I can't believe the Winsborughs are going to work on my house!" Like an excited kid. Small town famous 😆

Drywall... It's the same, but different every day... But the same... 🤔

All in all, I'd say not too bad for one guy (even though it's taken 9 days so far). I'm still not done, and won't be before I'm shipped off to the next job on Monday... But that's, uh... Not going to be an immediate concern.
