Hi Tom: The clapboard siding is as you've described:interlock, nailing slot, and needing overlapping trim. But I drove by a local condo building that had the shingle siding product installed and it looked and felt like the real deal. It looks like it's a solid product that can be cut, ripped, and installed like wood, and other than a couple outside corners the rest of the siding was butted up to trim. I also looked at the new certainteed shingle siding, they're individual plastic shingles that look pretty good too, but they have voids in the back so would need to be installed with overlapping trim. I'm ideally looking for the most realistic look without the maintenance. This nucedar product looks great, but being a pvc product will be very costly. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it, and whether they thought the added cost was worth it. The website shows the mill being in Massachusetts, so maybe the product stays local to New England.
