John, it is incised PT Douglas fir, treated for ground contact. We've used this for many years. I rolled on some copper-green for extra protection.

 

Can you go into a bit on how the posts are anchored to the ground ?

Looks like an Alum shoe / air space on pic #1 but can't see really well.

How is the DF to work with? Looks like #2 is really #2, our SYP has been horrid lately. Is the decking just 1x6 DF t&g?

 

The decking was 2x6 T&G douglas fir. All the framing was select structural douglas fir, mostly kiln dried. It was fine to work with as long as you get it fastened before it takes on any more moisture.

 

Man, I wish we could build with pt Doug fir. By itself without any treatment it is some long lasting lumber. Real nice to work with.

This is the first time I have heard of it being treated. I remember Mac was using incised hem/fir or hemlock. Without treatment hemlock or Bamm as we usta call it in Oregon was not suited for exposure at all.
