Level of cleaning old insulation before starting a project...

Work on a project for one year on and off. House is like 100 years old in mid of nowhere. The entire house's sheetrock is off and the old insulation is removed. Only it is just insulation removed, it is not completely washed off or however it should be done.
On the first floor it was possible to do framing without mask just running off for moments here and there from tiny old insulation flying around after I shot from nail gun.
On second floor it wasn't possible and I had to wear mask all time.
The question would be should I require insulation at such a big project to be cleaned to a higher level, like washed walls or however is it professionally removed. Of course, at small projects need not it be done.

Shop-vac with exhaust diffuser. Decent garden sprayer with water odoban and some borates in it will be a good excuse to "knock the dust down" after vacuuming. Disposable respirators are so cheap and work so well buying one to leave at a project pays off. Shop vacs that get used on houses with the "old kind" of paint are throwaways and i leave them at a project too.
