I buy my tile and floors from a local store. We used the same store for many years, and they did something to piss me or the old man off a few years ago, cant remember all the details. Switched to a buddy who has a local store.

We still use the same independent installer for the carpet, a tile setter for the floors usually, and a hardwood floor guy. The carpet guy knows how to not mess up walls and base.

He needs to teach my carpet layer that trick.

Exactly why he works alone, I imagine. There is always a few scuffs, but not all screwed up like I have seen.

He is getting old though. We always pull the rolls in for him.

I dont do much carpet though, mostly hard surfaces.

That's the only place I put it in around here and that's going mostly to hardwood or laminate these days.
I don't put it in myself but the customer has my guy do it.That's about the only thing I have never done and don't doing it now.
