Bending Hardipanel for an arch

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum. I'm a GC in Portland Oregon - mostly work on repairs, rehabs and remodels.

I've got a project replacing some EIFS with Hardi products and one element I need to copy is the front archway. The 1/4" hardipanel (cedar mill if it makes a difference) I need to bend is about 18" by 48". Can't seem to find any advice on the net and so I thought I'd see if someone here has any tricks of the trade.

You cannot bend Hardi. It will only break. If you need to make an arch, you can either cut an arch or bend some Azek.

Google this and scroll down to as many articles as you care to read, and you'll find that's NOT true. The siding CAN bend.

Actually hardi will bend. I just did two arches and cut it to size and then pushed up slowly in the middle and it bent right around the arch and did not break. I then screwed it up and will be tiling it soon...

It worked!

Let's see if I can figure out how to get a pic on here.

Not much curve to the arch but the I bent the hardi in by starting in the middle and working towards the ends. No creasing or buckling.

wet the back of it. I did a oval shape office building with all hardi shakes. it bends when wet. even a hardi rep seen the install prosses and said nothing

she wants this to be hardie sheets and trimmed . But under the arch ?
