I'm still trying to wrap my mind around an aluminum framed Andersen product.

They ruled the market along the Jersey Shore with their cladded wood products for 25 years.

Pella came and went, due to corrosion and pitting of their aluminum cladding.

Is this something new Andersen has launched, or is it a geographic thing?
aluminum frame or cladding? like the one offered by peach tree?

Andersen will, on request, deliver a 2-panel patio door pre-assembled. You can go to YouTube to see it, enter "Andersen Assembled A-Series Door Installation." The door is very heavy and 2 beefy guys are needed to carry it and maneuver it into place.

I called Andersen and they are sending me "foam interlock spacer tape." My understanding is that this tape is applied to the vertical interlocking weather strip to seal any gaps along its length. I'm not sure I like this solution even if it works.

Incidentally, I am located in northern Virginia just outside of D.C.
Did you buy this from Home Depot?

I'm not sure, I never heard of it before this thread.

The only thing I can believe is that it's another Andersen acquisition of a lesser company, that they stuck a little sticker on, such as Emco.

ive seen them,it's the new A series they have a Fiberex frame

whats nice about the A Series windows is you can order them custom size and they have a few outside trim details that snap right on the exterior
Isn't Fibrex the same material that Flex-Frames are made with?

not sure, flexiframes are a combination of wood and fiberglass i think

Fiberex is a relatively new composite i think, its also used in their Renewal line

No there's no fg in flex frames. The door looks decent though.

"The Door Guy" got me thinking there may be some object on the jack stud that's preventing the operating jamb from straightening out. Indeed there was. In my haste to remove the old door, trying to beat the cold and high winds forecast for here in northern Virginia, I neglected to remove one of the screws that secured the old door to the jack stud. After I cut it off and made some adjustments to the new door it now operates like a dream.

Many thanks to all who replied--especially The Door Guy.

Note that my area of expertise is electrical so I'm sorta new to doors and windows. This was my 4th patio door install-- 2 Pellas, 1 Peachtree and 1 Andersen.

Anderson has been sending out pre assembled alum clad doors for a while now. I did some work for a prefab builder 5-6 years ago and they got all there andersons that way. It sucks!!! I know the 6' weighs About 300lbs. Anderson puts the weight in large print on the side of the box!
I cant even remember what the 8' and 12' weighed. I know they used to use the site crane to get it off the truck. I tried to walk away when they did that.

Here is a pre assembled 8' Anderson French, with sidelites, that we installed last week. It took 4 guys to safely get it up to the 2nd floor, using a "beam buddy".

Install was easy, but we are still looking for the extra hinge screws, that won't go into the sidelites.
