I was told that we need a outlet capable of holding 40 amps for our IT room I just want to make sure something like this exist before I ask the electrician and look dumb...on a 110V
You should ask the person with the requirement (an equipment vendor?) to communicate directly with your contractor, or to give you a written spec for the circuit and the receptacle.
So my next question is what is the highest Amp breaker that can be used on a duplex outlet that is running on 12-2 wire? There is a 20 Amp breaker on there now and the IT guy thinks it's as simple as swapping the 20 Amp breaker for a 40 Amp breaker. I disagree. Help?
