I am looking to give a house some curb appeal and what I was thinking was to frame the window exteriors and paint them in the trim color.
The house is '70's, standard block and rough stucco.
My thought is to use Hardiboard or DurRock, bed it in mortar and fasten with TapCons. I'll prep with sandblasting.
Anyone ever try something like this before?

Teetor,

I install Weatherboards from Certainteed, they have a line of composite trims that look real good, you can get it either in 1"x4"x12' or 1"x6"x12', I imagine the hardi has the same. I'd shy away from the durock myself, for an exterior application. Now I could maybe see using some verticle fibercement siding and sawing it down to the size & look you want, but I've used the composite trims and it does look good when it's done and can be either painted or stained and you get away from all that cutting of the stuff. Here's a link to the pro page over at Certainteed, have to scroll about 2/3 way down the page & you'll see what I'm talking about. Just a thought for what it's worth.
