I can't seem to get this cooking thing down.

When I get cornbread right, if you are not careful, your tongue will slap your brains out. It is good! But when I screw up, I do it good.

Like when I was watching my bread while watching other stuff I was trying to cook. Bread was looking good. I turn the oven off, remove the bread thinking it would finish cooking on it own so to speak. I had the bread in a cast iron skillet and placed it on a small eye at the back of the range.

As I continued to watch the other stuff, I noticed an odor and thought one of these eyes or one of the utensils was burning something off.

It so happens the eye I placed my skillet of cornbread on was not only the vent for the oven, but I had also turned it on to cook something by mistake or something.

By the time I realized the bread was still cooking from the heat from the oven vent and the eye being on, the bottom and sides were burned black. Actually, I think the kitchen was starting to smoke up a little.

Heheh, I tried cutting the bottom and sides off. Needless to say, I know what cast iron tastes like. That sh.......stuff was not edible! Tossed it and had sliced bread.

The home made mash potatoes were...okay.
Hamburger helper? Nothing to write home about, kind of bland.

The poic with all the dishes on the sink and counter? Thats the part I hate the most when I attempt to cook.

But then again, I need half my shop pulled out to change a bulb, it seems.

Sometimes I wonder if it is not cheaper for just the wife and I to order out.

Yeah, not much for this cooking thing.

I pretty much do all the cooking at my house. One of my favorite is lasagna I make a bunch and freeze it. It is nice to have something easy on days that I work late.

My wife does 99% of the cooking. 3 nights a week she works late, so she just makes something during the day that I can heat up for me and our 2 year old son at night.
I'll do the grill, but that's about it. She does that better than I do too.

As for those steaks. No way would I eat a blue steak or a rare. It's medium well or well done for me. Medium well is the best if I get it off the grill on time.

A couple of years ago my wife got me a new grill for my birthday. I figured it must have been a nice one because it was weeks before I got to use it. She does a better job anyway, now that she knows hot peppers can go on the grill.

And I like my steak to walk onto the plate and sit down. But the wife says we don't like beef anymore. If we eat out and I order anything with beef she reminds me that we don't eat it. I pretend it was a slip of the tongue and no I don't want to upset anybody by changing the order. I'm a martyr that way.

Really glad they don't make turkey steaks yet.

Good Luck
Dave

Here ya go, Gabe. Today for dinner, the wife wanted a pie.

I got to work. Asparagus, zuccini, green olives, brocolli and tomato. With mozza and regular tomato sauce (store bought.... I know, I know..)

Our setup right now for watching the Bruins/Caps game.
With her little hand in there too haha.
