I know where you're coming from Mike, but in real life, there is only one way to sweat a joint. So to speak.

Having to know which joint the code requires is much more memorization than skill.

Having to deal with excessively restrictive code requirements has little to do with skill. Or knowledge, outside of rote memorization.
You have to have the skill to install what is required, and know how to do the math to get it right. We have buildings that require galvanized waste water and vent, I dare you to tackle that job, I'd buy tickets just to watch.

I'll pass. Plumbing's not on my list of favorites. :laughing:

Pretty much the only skill involved in memorizing codes and mathematical formulas is... memorization. While I certainly don't deny that there are a lot of physical skills involved in the trade, the essentials are the same wherever you go.
