It's been a little dead hereabouts lately, so I thought I would try and liven things up a little.

Post some pics of your current tile projects in progress. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Nice work brother. I like the corner detail and the sort of threshold look you gave the transitions. Good craftsmanship.

1 of 3 Baths on this job.

Design/remodel of a vacation home in northern Jersey. A home of some 60's modernist-natural architectural significance. "Deck House" by Bill Berkes and...???

Master Suite. Killed the hall from bedroom that had three doors (walk-in closet, linen closet, bathroom (cave). Added pocket door and merged all the spaces into one. Killed wall around and soffit above tub/shower (see Wall of Shame).

Porcelain on the floor, AO Artic Fox somethin on the walls, Crema pencil. QL2 Mushroom

Couple of showers I've done this month. The white linen tile turned out to be a bit of a hassle, because the edges of the tile are beveled revealing the dark brown composition of the porcelain. This makes grouting a real PITA because any variation at all in depth, I'm talking 1/64th of an inch, shows up really badly.

Nice!
Can't believe they went with a fiberglass pan with that expensive sliding door and shower system
And is that wood trim around the pan??

I went with the pan. I had to do it. And yes...it's wrapped in Mahogany.

The "Deck House" was a great design in many ways. Truly hand crafted. Everything that could have been (pretty much) was made custom out of mostly Mahogany.

One major failing in the design IMO, is the unsupported spans between the beams at the cantilevered exterior main floor walls. Basically, the whole house is massive fir/pine(?) beams every eight feet with 1 1/2" T&G pine as "the deck". No floor joists/cavities. Hence the need for the 5 1/2" base height (drain) in the shower (outside is whats below the "deck"). Also no insulation in the lid other than 3" of old crap polystyrene.
In short :whistling, they should have laid rim joists as the lower plate on the exterior walls to carry the load......of my shower. I input some beefy angle iron to try and give it some strength, but I wasn't about to risk a pan failure, so I went where I felt I must.

As for the mahogany. I wanted the face tile to be flush with the pan edge......no horizontal return. The glass bears down on it pretty hard, so no tile, except the Crema pencil above the wood.

Thanks for asking.

If there was a lot of work there I would move in a heartbeat.
There are home builders putting up 300 homes a year here. Good bit of commercial work is going on now and a bunch more in the pipe line.

There is very comparable money to Naperville down here if not more in some areas. You would just never know it because they live a lot less flashier down here.

There is a real need or niche for people that can do good honest work, to many home builder throw it together types running around.

They were much flater than my slab was. I had a couple of boxes which had a nice bow to them but overal good stuff and looks great in my opinion. Wasnt a huge fan of the tile wood at first but its growing on me. I have a 600sq.ft pation coming up in a few weeks and it should look awesome.
