It's been a little dead hereabouts lately, so I thought I would try and liven things up a little.

Post some pics of your current tile projects in progress. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Just finished up this deal today, the customers are painting and having heavy glass installed. They wanted a mirror on the back wall but they may want me to come back and tile it before a mirror goes in... and this was a case of them not liking the countertop color that they picked. It probably doesn't do much justice in the photo but in the room, it blends pretty good and only a matter of paint. New policy: when the sheet comes in, you will have to go to the fabricator and approve of the material, if you disapprove, pick another color and you MAY have to pay a restocking fee...........

Sweet shower Dawg

Damn, and I was all proud of the fireplace I did the other day.
Hey dude cmon, that fireplace is sweet!!!

Currently working by starting today and helping a friend with 900sqft floor travertine with black marble diamond insert, thin set and 1/16 inch joint(some customers dont get it that 1/16 inch joint is for mudset!!!)

Surprise dont ends there, they told me that the travertine is 3rd grade...I never heard of 3rd grade travertine, well I finally find out what 3rd grade means....I had to set and emmediatelly remove at least 15 pieces due to being cut off wack a whole 1/8 from one side to the other. I THOUGH STONE SHOULD BE RECTEFIED CUT!!!! 3rd grade travertine OMG now I know what it is.....still coming out nice iven with 1/16 inch joint.

BTW they paid $1.75 per sqft its 18x18....:furious:

That med cab had a wood frame and glass shelves, so they wanted me to tile it up... funny thing is, she likes the threshhold but not the top.......

They poorly planned this job by not using engineered stone and I had origionally planned for a really nice med cab, but they declined and decided to get their own mirror... of course they don't like it! Its not friggin finished, it will look bare until then

Only thing is that they didn't want something that needed to be sealed.... they picked the corian, and I like corian especially cuz I used to be a corian fab/installer... at the beginning of the job, it was about the $ so they declined Cambria.... now they are saying, its not about the money... not my fault, I can only do so much...my name is not SuperOpie, lol

Nope buddy, the stone is most of it like that, some sort 3rd grade travertine,I personally never worked with it and to tell you the truth almost every 2nd piece was out of wack cut out,so I had to work my way out trough the whole floor.

Owners choose some glossy sealer,I told them in this case best would be enhancer, but hey its their choice after all and their choice to buy this travertine for $1.75 sqft.

Got new mud set job starting tomorrow,I laid all the stone for my buddy,if he wants he can seal it before he starts with making cuts, its his puppy he can do as he pleases.

That almost looks like a tumbled or rustic travertine. I know your glad to be done w/ that stuff. Its a shame to put that much work into something and have the HO make choices that make you hang your head.

Nice work on the pattern by the way. Did you just cut a template piece and just trace each tile ahead of time?

Cutted the marble at 3x3,placed 4 travertines on the floor, centered the marble insert in the middle, draw it with pencil line, and setted up my wet saw with the 45 angle mider,i clamped on the cart 1x4 just to hold it on the other end of the travertine as a mider, and ripped 100 pieces at once ,not my first rodeo!!!!! LOL

As for the choices,I did my deeds and I wasnt suppose to,it was my break time after a big job I did,and on top of all monday I'm starting big mud job,but look it at this way...,I helped a friend and I made $1000 in 2 1/2 days.

This one had me hanging my head. I HATE the design. Why mix H&F travertine w/ rustic porcelain tile? No pencils in between the porcelain and the stone, so the herringbone sits w/ the cuts resting right on the finished edge. The travertine has differences in thickness as well as this tile they chose. I did the best I could w/ it, but it was just one of those jobs where I had to push through and just get it done. Homeowners were happy so I guess I can take some satisfaction from that.

What a mess!!:thumbdown

Yeah like I said, I did my job. Just hated the choices all the way through. The pencils are way to deep. Kinda hard to tell from the pics, but there is a tiny Corian splash along the back. The pencil overhangs the splash by 1/8". That pissed me off more than anything. I was subbed for this job and did not supply the materials or have any input in the process. I'm just happy to clean my hands of it at this point.
