Are you feeding that directly into an amp, what do you use for volume control?

Do you get a pop as the tabs short out when you unplug the devices?
Master volume is set at the amp, but the individual device can control the volume. You don't get a pop if you insert the RCA cables after you plug in the 1/8" connector to the device.

Your tile work is absolutely incredible...your sound system design kinda sucks.

RCAs connect the signal before the ground so you risk sending a pop...you could switch them to BNCs to make it a little safer...but you are still going to get people ripping the mini jack out.

That wouldn't be bad...Sonos ZP120 and an iPort would have been more my style...also a pair of in-wall speakers.
Cost was a factor, despite the overall project being expensive, it was already at the high end of their budget. While very nice, the Sonos alone costs $200 more than our entire system.

Your input is very valuable to me...your delivery is kinda dickish

That's some good advice, and I'll look into it if it becomes an issue. We haven't had any issues with the RCAs and popping, but if we do, we could always switch them out. We also have an iPod-RCA cable on order from Amazon, but I don't know if that will help or not.

This is our first sound system install, so I'm not going to act like I'm an expert on it. We also did the labor for free as such for the opportunity to do it, and the HO was aware of this up front. What gave us the idea is that one of our employees worked for a year in AV doing these kind of setups. We went with a budget-conscious setup that would delivery reasonable sound quality without costing big money, and I feel like we achieved that.

I'm a dick but an honest dick...you build a Ferrari of a bathroom but then slapped on Wal-Mart seat covers.

If budget was an issue you could have corner mounted a single Sonos Play:3, ran power to it and added a wireless bridge. Total RETAIL cost would be $370 Canadian...probably closer to 340 US retail.

Then anyone with a smart phone or tablet could control the audio...you would have access to SiriusXM, Spotify, Rdio, InternetRadio and your entire music collection off of your computers.

Effectively you have a music source, and amp and speaker all in one box for less money than you paid for all your bits and pieces.

It's just painful to see a POS setup like that ruin an otherwise perfect bathroom.

I was kind of thinking that its not his fault that the customer didn't have more money to spend...

And that's what it's like being a tile guy. Getting folks to spend the money to build things proper is crazy-hard. All the customer cares about is the final "look".

Try selling an $800 drain to a customer.
Try getting someone to spend an extra $1000 for a Wedi set up.
Try telling a customer the $800 worth of stone they bought from Homeless DePot can't be used.

People don't care. Ben worked with what he had and is learning. Little did he foreshadow that a control systems guy was gonna critique his pics

Yeah but he managed to sell all the tile bells and whistles...then ran short on the sound system.

I just figured instead of going to work today I'd jerk off and hang out in the tile section just to piss everyone off. :shifty:
