Computerized estimating is a very handy tool for speed. Most are fancy database programs that don't look like excell. My suggestion is this. Find something that gives you the reporting requirements and ease of ability you are looking for. Don't buy anything off of a recomendation here as we all have different needs and computer skill levels. The main thing is to remember that a computer hasn't seen the job and has no past experience to base the work off of. You can get very fast totals that I take from there and get the pencil out to adjust accordingly with my PITA factor and experience built in. After you use a program for awhile and get used to how it calculates the labor, you can trust it some more or adjust it accordingly.
