I am needing informaton on where is the best place to host my web site.
I'm going to have a web site built later this year, so I am looking for a host to put it on. I know about Go Daddy but was wondering if are other sites that might be better.

My votes for GoDaddy - good support & responsive

Define better - cheaper, faster bandwidth, more storage, ???
I'm biased too. I prefer my hosting. What can I say???
I bought my domain from Tinner, but that was only because he keeps posting pics of himself with guns. He is a couple of bucks cheaper too.
I prefer 1and1.com, they have very reasonable plans, cheap domains and don't nickel and dime you like Godaddy. Godaddy is ok but you have to pay extra for things like email address's, private domain registration, subdomain pointing and on and on...

Interesting. I've never had to pay for those things there, and I don't charge for those either. Subs are free, 301's and 302's are free. Your dot-com addy comes with the domain.

Yes, you have to look at the invoice before clicking because 'default' choices are set at 2 years, for instance. ( For a business, I wouldn't consider anything less than 10 years.)
Many of my clients call ME personally and I often walk them through the maze at checkout. Not everything is 'necessary', and all can be added later.

This is a free hosting site that I use. My email and everything else is from Tinner666's site. I didnt set mine up so I dont know much about it really.
The free hosting I use doesnt have banner ads , thats why the guy who desinged my site went with it.
The person that set up my website wanted me to use Ipower.com , they are and have lots of tools.
My Host Choice

I like Hostgator they have excellent service and my sites have never been down.
Before rushing into a decision you should consider your future website needs. For instance, you may want a website where you can easily change the content yourself without having to do it on the actual page that the website code is on. In other words, your content will be stored in a database and you'll be able to add, edit or delete your website information yourself from a user friendly admin area.

A Linux platform is less expensive than a Windows platform and is more flexible. It allows you to write websites in the scripting language Php, which is used to interact with a MySQL database.

Is this Greek to you? Maybe, but you'll find more uses for your website as you go along and these things will come up again. Better to have the neccessary tools in place to begin with so that your website can grow without the need to change hosting companies later.

Godaddy hosting is horrible! Do some research on hosting forums like webhostingtalk(dot)com. I had a few sites on Godaddy and moved them after a couple of months of their "service".

Not that I'm a fan of hostgator but they are fine for a few sites with limited CPU usage.

I would see what Tinner offers, he seems like a stand up guy on this site.
I like Bluehost.com and hostgator.com. Both are very reliable and offer a cpanel where you can make changes, track visitors and many other items.
I like hostgator and you can google and get a coupon code for 1 month for Free or a .01.

I would stay away from ipower. When hold times appraoched 90 minutes I changed to godaddy and haven't had a problem with them in years. Just last year ipower was still trying to charge my credit card with an expired expiration date to charge me for services I had canceled over a year before. They even tried quessing with a new expiration date.

Ipower has been like herpes. It may go away for awhile but it always comes back with some grievous crap that you will have to deal with. I lost websites because of them. At least check their hold times for tech support.

Their service also sux. They have people that will lie to you smd hang up on you.

Godaddy doesn't charge you for those mundane things either and their annual rate is pretty good. There were times they even pointed and forwarded stuff for me for free. You do get 1 free email address with a domain name. Like anyone else they do have idiots that work for them, especially in lower level tech support but they are better than the others I have experienced.

Hostgator is interesting. I looked into them a couple of years ago when they first started, at least here in Houston. They have an office building right around the corner from me. I had already changed to godaddy and they seemed good. If anything ever happens with godaddy I will probably try hostgator.

There really isn't such a huge differance in the options available for hosting packages from one hosting to another. Some may add more and some may add less.

To me the most important thing is access to customer service. For me Godaddy has done an absolute stellar job in this area.

I have not once had a rep that did not have extensive knowlage about any issue I called in about. To me that is a huge time saver becuase I hate getting put on hold so I can speak so some one else who might know the solution to my problem.

Service is king in hosting in my opinion.
Go daddy

I do all my hosting with godaddy and have never had an issue that their customer service could not fix. Might as well give them a shot, worst case you can just move to another host.
As far as hosting, I like go daddy a lot, and never had problems. I host numerous domains on one hosting account @ $6/month. No down times, reasonably fast.... easy to set up / use.

As for the domains, I may move to network solutions. I just know of some horror stories with domain hijacking / people loosing their domains over stupid chit, and go daddy being complete a$$ about it.. check out nodaddy dot com
