Hello, I live in an HOA and luckly I have a fence installed in my backyard.
I have noticed that it is starting to wear down and show various cracks in the rails (not the posts) and can wobble a lot more than a good sturdy section.
So i was thinking to reinforce the rails by putting a long metal insert like aluminum or steel to help stiffen the rails more. But it is quite expensive in materials. I was looking at angled rods or square/round rods to put in.
I am looking at about 7 ft long for each section and 21 sections to put the rods in.
The rails are about 1.5 x 2.5 rectangular. It is oversized when i measured the outside, so i figured it is that size internally. So i was looking more towards 1.375" wide, maybe even 1.25" minimum by 7ft long. The short side is what i want to strenghten to reduce wobbling and cracking.
So I was wondering what are your thoughts on how i can strengthen the rails and what materials to use. This was the only way i can think of. But I would rather not be paying $500+ for materials.
Thanks!
