The Watts mixing valve in my radiant system is 1-1/2 years old (1 year warranty!) The plunger inside keeps geting stuck in the cold water position. I took it apart, checked everthing, and didn't find anything obvious wrong. Wax pellet is working fine. I suspect the large spring in the bottom has weakened and is not pushing the plunger up. This is running off of a domestic HWH set at about 120°F, so there is no way the valve is cooked.
Anybody run into this before?
Would a couple of shims on the spring fix this?
Should I get rid of this piece of junk and get a Taco mixing valve?
