I recently purchased a home with a well. The psi on the pump reads 40psi which I was told is about right. But if I turn water on down stairs the water pressure upstairs is very poor.Is there anything I can do to increase my water pressure?

Increasing the line size will on allow more volumn not pressure. 40psi is low for pressure. I would boost the pressure switch to about 55-60psi so that when in use the pump will kick on sooner not allowing the pressure to drop too low.
