Please any input appreciated. My contractor is telling me that it's common practice to have flashing go through the vinyl corner trim at the roof line. I know it can't be right with what I've found online. I don't know the technical terms to tell him he's wrong. Please look at the pictures provided. Also he used aluminum soffit for my porch ceiling which is only 84" wide and has exposed trim nails. Is that correct?

They're aerodynamic wind cutters should probably put 2 on every corner top and bottom it's required when nailing only every 4ft.
