So I got a call about some siding possibly needing to be replaced or at least refastened. I checked it out and said ok, it's in pretty tough shape but could probably make it a couple more years. Started working on it today and yikes! Whoever built this place had not a clue. There were red flags everywhere. Of course, I don't see the red flags when I'm doing a walk through and checking things out. Just when I start the work. All in all I'm surprised the sheathing is holding up so well.

1st photo- that is what the tyvek looked like when I took the boards off
2nd- zero overlap on the vycor flashing the window. (Also no overlap on tyvek)
3rd- that is how the bottom of the window is flashed.

Needless to say- I'm recommending that side be redone.

It's a weird addition on an old cape. The addition I think is 15 years old max. siding is just junk. Pine ship laped boards. cupped big time. this side, the south is the worst. The North has some cupping too, but they are so swollen I can't get them back in right now. I'll have to wait till things dry out. I also did find some tyvekey type stuff where the lower piece lapped over the upper. come to think of it. Does Lowes (Home Depot) put their logo on Tyvek? They must. There was something with a Lowes logo on it beneath the siding. It looked so thin and transparent though. I wonder if it wasn't the stuff they wrap lumber in when they deliver it.

Lol yeah that plastic burlap bag looking crap, im pretty sure they just recycle the lumber wrap back into house wrap. I'm actually surprised the OSB didnt look near as bad as it should have after 15 years.
