Hi guys,

I have been coming here for a while and always look forward to your advice on several issues. Our company has dump trucksto haul construction debris and landscaping materials for commercial sites and homeowners. We have a new logo but need help. Please advise.

That's the same thing that the owner thinks. But my problem is that hauling unlimited doesn't say what we do. I woild like something thats says what we do.

Also, i thought about adding phone number but I'm on the fence about it.

I'm largely an anti slogan guy but in your case I would think about it. Instead of trying to list items like you are trying to do I would consider developing a slogan that "sums it all up" and build a brand around it.

Something to the effect of "if it fits in the truck we haul it". Keep it short as possible and plaster that slogan on anything and everything. People will remember it if it's done right.

@oconomowac I LOVE that idea!

I also read another thread where they talked about having a logo that when you saw the logo you KNOW who and what it is. It's getting to that point that's difficult. Any other ideas please let me know. This will be going on four new trucks and it needs to be good. Thanks!

Every time I drop a load off I'd stick a sign right on top of it with the slogan.

I'd blog that slogan. I'd Facebook that slogan. I'd put that SOB on shirts etc. I'd play the slogan till people couldn't forget it.

We are thinking of taking the two bottom lines off and only saying material specialists. But then how does a customer know its landscaping materials? Landscaping material specialists seems too long. I am actively looking for a slogan. In some of my marketing i have always used: getting the job done right, the first time and on budget. Its also on our business cards.

It's a bad habit to mix messages. Ditch the getting the job done right and on budget. Customers want you to haul. Period. You need to convey that message.

I agree about giving sending messages. Any good slogan ideas let me know. We do hauling of materials, demo and excavations. But I see the trucks as a great avenue to market to our homeowner client base.

I put this on my truck. It's not a slogan it's just two descriptive words. This banner is on everything I do. There's no confusion about what I do.

It is also a separate logo. I have 3 logos and all three were designed with purpose. All three are used as leverage.

When someone has a plumbing repair issue I need them to think of me first and foremost. Period. End of sentence. If somebody even thinks about plumbing repair I need this to pop up inside the brain in a micro second.

But that's not my brand.

A brand is reputation. When they see my name what do they feel? You see what I'm saying?

,.............

So you could conceivably have 2 logos instead of my 3. You have the name logo and you have a descriptive logo. The descriptive logo is what you push in marketing.

It looks to me like you're only thinking about the space on the doors. Your logo and web address are all that's needed on the doors. Use the nose and fenders for slogan and phone. The back gate and possibly the sides are your traveling billboard.

Hopefully you are safely securing your loads. In this case your slogan on the back gate could be: "Load secured so you don't have to worry about stone chips on your windshield!"

With a slogan like that you shouldn't need anything else.

Now, where do I send the bill? :)

It's good at least that your company name says, in one word, what you do: Hauling.

If your name was something like "Anderson Services LLC" you would have a much bigger challenge.

I agree with Steve in that you have a lot more space than just the doors to convey messages.
I think you should have your website or phone number on the truck as well. Around here contractors are required to have their phone number on both sides of the vehicle in 2" or larger letters- you don't have any requirement like that there?

Personally, I like the original logo you posted the way it is.

Some of the feedback you've gotten seems to imply that you need to separate yourself from the competition with a slogan.
But as a homeowner, I probably wouldn't really care what your niche or angle is. If I needed a load of material delivered and saw your truck, I would give you a call. Basically, I'd be sold just by knowing that you do what I need done. Just my opinion.
