I'm remodeling a treehouse. Finally.

I need to put in a ladder that isn't terrible. Is there a rule of thumb to follow for rise on a kids' ladder? I figure I should be aiming more for ladder than stairs, which is leading me to think 2x6 stringers and 2x4 treads.

Anyone an expert on this?

Me too. When building high rises in FL and before they put the personell hoists in we would build ladders out of 2X4's on edge with the steps of 2X4's on the flat with 2X4 spacers in between. These were just throw aways to get from one floor to the other as the stairs were always poured a few slabs behind.Suprisingly strong and cheap.
