top and bottom?

we replaced our toilet top when the old one cracked, my wife purchased a new tank, but a different brand.

now the water lvl in the bowl is way down and doesnt seem to have enough pressure to flush.

is it possible to mix the tank and bowl from 2 different brands? or is it another trip to the home center?

I've run into this a few times, and the short answer is no, they're not standard, they vary by mfgr. That said, "incompatibility" in my experience means the pieces won't fit and will leak.

If it didn't leak the problem might not be the tank. Did you check the float in the tank to make sure it's adjusted to let a high enough level of water in?
thats what i thought. well thats the answer i needed. thanks alot!!!

yes the float is adjusted, but the next time i flush, it needs another adjust.

may as well bight the bullet and buy an entire new toilet.
Well, wait a minute. If you CAN get a good flush but have to keep adjusting the float, each time, then it sounds like the float might be bad.

Try replacing the float, you may not need a whole new toilet. If that doesn't work, dry it off and take it back to home depot, they'll give you a credit towards the new toilet!
Just keep a five gallon bucket of water next to said toilet, if it doesn't flush, empty the bucket into the bowl. Problem solved, refill the bucket and repeat as needed.
