Timbertech radiance rails are a pain, no doubt. Everytime my employee ask's what rails we are doing, and I say radiance, I get the good old groan. The first time I ever used it I completly lost my butt in the bid. I read the directions front to back, noting how quick and easy they say it is, and then spent about 2.5 hours on the first kit. I was deeply frustratrated when I realized I had nearly 30 more kits to go... The last couple of decks I have done with the kits really got me angry as the predrilled holes were off center forcing me to drill them all out by hand again. Normally it wouldn't matter but if you have installed this railing you know that lip on the bottom and the channel at the top wont allow you to have the holes off center. I didn't have time to wait for another order either so I had to suck it up and make do that day. I asked Timbertech to reimburse me for the time and they said no way, and I am a Timbertech Elite contractor, you'd think they would treat us better. I need more than a hat once a year...

Bottom line I use it still, but the ho pays for it and me and then some. Ornamental rail you say? I wont go there....

Isn't that ridiculous though for the cost of the railings? I mean there supposed to be "premium railings" but I can make some custom clear cedar railing a lot quicker in my shop with my jigs and such. It's just frustrating for the expense to have to go through and drill again, cut the balusters to get them right and so on. I definately feel your angst.
