ok, yet another spin on the 1st thread.

while working on a frame job, my old boss had a new guy. we are kind of busting his balls a little bit lunch time is over so everyone goes back to work, its just the new guy and my boss. i go to the side of the truck (we were all behind it eating lunch) to get my tool belt. and i hear my boss in the absolutely calmest, most serious voice say "now dan, you know your initials are dp and in the porn industry that stands for double penetration."

I had a boss who used to treat everyone as if they were his children... talked down to you... He said to me after a task took longer than he planned "I don't know if you understand how a bid works..." and he was serious... Man I wanted to smack him up side the head...

I was working for a company and they had a layoff. No warning, even though several of us had a feeling. I point blank asked my boss if there was a layoff in the future and got a definitive "NO" for an answer. After they laid a bunch of us off at the end of the week they said I would be called back when they needed me.

So I got a job on my own building a kitchen for a GC. I figured it would take about 6 weeks. At about the 4th week I got a call and they wanted me to come back to work. I told them I had a job that would be finishing up in about two weeks. They told me that was a bit inconvenient for them, I told them I would come in on Monday. When I got there I had to do all of my paperwork from scratch, found out I was being hired to a "new" company. All of my vacation and sick days were reset to zero.

I told them I still had to finish up the job I had started with the kitchen and I would work for them 1/2 days until I was done with my other job. They reluctantly agreed. After 1 week, when I was receiving my paycheck the boss told me that my situation of working 1/2 days was inconvenient and I needed to make a decision. It was either work for them full time, and screw my other commitment, or take the high road.

My answer was OK.

So he said "See you Monday."

I said, Nope, sorry. I don't do well with ultimatums. I quit.

He told me I was putting them is a situation, that I had to give them 2 weeks notice.

I actually burst out laughing. Looked him stern in the eye and told him that I had asked point blank about the layoffs and you lied and said there were none. That I went from $400/wk to the $100 that unemployment was giving. I mentioned that you stripped me of all of my earned time. That I was willing to come back after I finished my other commitment AND willing to work 1/2 day to keep them going. And then "I" inconvenience you by not fulfilling my position.

I gave him my two weeks notice and said, your not going to see me again.

I finished up my job and started my new company. Been going ever since.

But I really couldn't believe they had the audacity to tell me that I was putting them on the spot and was inconveniencing them. Go Screw.

I made all of the stuff you see in the kitchen. I made all the doors, drawer fronts and end panels. I replaced two guys who weren't fast enough together. I bet they had to hire two guys to replace me  fugg'em

The one job experience I couldn't believe was when I was working nights at a convienance store. The graveyard subway sandwich maker tried to knife the front counter guy one night; I watched it happen. Graveyard guy kept his job. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find someone to make sandwhiches in the middle of night in a medium sized metropolitan area?

Hard enough to mop up a little blood and perhaps dispose of a body apparently.:blink:

I worked at a flower shop when I got out of school. The owners offered to send me to a special school and over time I would be made manager. They also told me that I would get a raise, hospitalization and other benefits. I decided to go for it. I went to the school in August. By January I still had not seen anything so I gave them notice.

The owners daughter came in early the next morning, something she never does. Wrote my paycheck and handed it to me and told me that they were very disappointed in me. A few months later I went by to give them a key I still had. I worked there just about every weekend doing carpentry work for about 4 months.

I was a team player. Then they broke up the team, changed the name of the company, ripped all of my benefits out from under me and called me a new employee. How much TEAM do you want me to have after 20 hours of employment?

I worked for a steel building company a number of years ago. We had a VP/Project manager who was so tight. He would spend $100 to save $10. Well, one morning when we were getting ready to go to work and getting assignments, one of the laborers was hounding him for a raise. The VP went on about no money, etc. So JR looked at him and said "Jeff, you are so tight you would use a condom twice!" The boss got so mad and yelled it was none of his business. We left quick.
