It's 400 degrees outside and I have to work in my shop all day today. My AC just went out the other day. I turned it on, heard a click and the whole thing shut off. Thermostat just went blank. AC shut off. Nothing will work. I can't get in touch with my landlord. I think he changed his number on me. I checked the circuit breaker box, and nothing was tripped. Can someone give me some suggestions?

Sounds like the transformer might have blown on you.. Usually a 24vac. It powers the thermostat circuit amongst other things.

Usually the batteries in the T-stat is for backup purposes. Can't hurt to change it out though.

My landlord had his phone disconnected for a couple of days. Just happened to be the days I was trying to reach him.
