The Monday Thread (some graphic pics)

I hate days like this.

I need to make two separate stops tomorrow and perform what should be a do-able amount of work, but I can tell that one false move and the entire day is going to go to hell.

Basically, let's preemptively complain about Monday.

I need to pick up my closet doors for Job A from the yard exactly when the open at 7 in order to get to Job B by 8 to throw a coat of mud on the walls. Should be achievable by 10am Job A is 5 minutes away from Job B, where I will attempt to swap 4 closet doors(bi-folds for hinges) from 11am until I'm done.
Again, this should be entirely possible for one person to do, but if I make one misstep I'm going to end up having to make an extra trip to one of the two jobs.
Wish I could freeze time for an hour somewhere in there.

Edit: Now the Monday Thread

Supply house on a Monday morning, in & out....yea right....:whistling

Someone will be late...

Another one screwing with the coffee maker...

Yet another waiting for coffee...

There will be a computer glitch processing your order...

Ok, so much for the yard, lets move on.....

Oh yea, the traffic jam...:censored:

On the job, spread a little mud....

The mud will be lumpy & you will certainly run short...

Job B, closet doors & hinges, already way too many parts to go smoothly...

OR.....

Quit worrying & over thinking this & just go to work...

Good Luck....

Thanks!! You actually just saved my Monday by reminding me that i have to get a door ordered first thing. Tried to do it Friday but the right folks were already gone when I got there.
If my Monday goes smoothly I'll have 12k in final payments tomorrow.

Im installing a new door system in a KB Home tomorrow. Cant believe they took my price. First work on a trac home as a GC. Friend of a friend.

When I took it originally I figured to knock it out on a Friday afternoon when I scheduled some dow time. Instead, its a Monday. Doing side item projects on a Monday never works out right. Said id have it completed by Thursday of this week 2 months ago, though.

Sounds doable, even if you get hung up in the morning. Are you doing pre-hung or fitting the existing openings? (Jambs plumb?)

My Mondays are kinda uneventful right now. Finished up my school, got my C of O and Substantial Completion, but they are not putting kids in here until Mid October after fall break.

In the mean time they are wearing me out with punch list stuff and the principal is up here every day "while you are here, can you just (fill in the blanks)

Anyway, kinda low stress, I'll take it for the time being. There is a building dedication ceremony October 20th, so I guess that's when I will drive off into the sunset.......

What's next?
Don't know. We may not have a contract for that job yet.

We have some multifamily residential stuff in downtown Nashville, I'd rather not end up there. A couple of schools in a county 75 miles away, would'nt be too bad.

Bidding stuff every week, we will see.

In the meantime, put in for a week off in October, going to visit #2 son in DC, with a side trip to Philadelphia. Looking forward to that.

You might as well not even show up if your complaining already. :) Now get to work.

What's sucks is I had a call at 8:00 from a friend who needed a 4th for a golf tourney tomorrow. All expenses paid I just need to show up.

The wife said NO!!
So I need to go to start my painting job tomorrow.
The week long fall fair starts tomorrow, I don't really care what I get done this week. I just want to eat some junk food, watch the draft horse pulls and ride some rides with the kids.

I wish I was only late for Monday. I am late for the beginning of September.

This week I need to punch a commercial job out, finish the second half of a roof job, start a window job with 4 windows over a metal roof and it's raining until Thursday.

Soooo... I basically have 4 nice days late this week to do all the exterior work, two or three crappy days to do the interior work and my job trailer is totally empty and the tools are strewn across the warehouse because we needed to use it to empty a new job out.

Oh, and then we found out that some tweakers cut up a conex on our new remodel and left all the guts and other stuff all over the yard. :censored:

So, I would trade a tough Monday for what is going to be one really crappy week.

It's great that some of you are busy enough to complain about being busy. Beats the hell out of complaining about a lack of work.

No let's just hope the money is there!!
Here's a review of my day:

I crawled around on my knees strapping a crawl space for part of the day and also learned that two of my subs are running behind schedule and won't make it till next week. Sweet. Sounds about normal.
