Seriously..........,
I swear this furnace is F""king with me.......every time when things start getting cold it starts messin with me,,,,,,,...

I get home and sit down to take care of some paper work and start to notice the blower is running for a short time, .......ok......WTF......please tell me I am hallucinating.........

So I go down to the rat hole and hear this slight buzzing and the green light is flashing on the control module...stick my ear up to the valve....

There is the noise maker........:rolleyes:I think the GV is on it's way out,...and.....so is my patience with this "Thing".........

I think it's worn it's welcome Matt down in the rathole........my other furnace is only 9 years old but rarely ever runs...set at 52- it's for my upstairs that I am renovating (when I get the energy to start that)...I am going to dump that possessed furnace unit at my scrapers door and swap them out .....I want to get just one unit - do you think that's the way to go... , ill be trashing one AC central but I am sick of dealing with this ...it's finally unnerved me to the point of no return......

I used to have 2 vehicles and did away with that....I'm starting to look at my furnace situation in the same manor.......

I would miss the individual climate control but ....might be time to end this unpleasant relationship..........

Any thoughts...

Valve : VR8204C. 1084, Outdated module replacement is a cross referenced GV- $ 167.54, last year the modual$147. And some kinda change....

Year before that- motor$159.54.....

See where I am going......

It wants to die....I want to help it.....:whistling

I had to bite the bullet last January. Put control board in mine $202, put condenser fan motor in $120, put gas valve in $162, put hi-temp rollout in $26 and then heat exchanger cracks. All this in the last 12 months. It's a package unit but enough is enough. I tied a strap to it and pulled it off the slab. Nephew put new one in the next morning, 28 hours and $2200 later I had my sanity back. Some times you just go, why me lord, why me? A HVAC friend of mine robbed all the recent parts off before the recycle yard got it all. I think it was cursed or planned obsolescence is down to a science.

Oh.......
Apparently F"""king with the B isn't over.........

I get through the night with no more issues, mind you the almighty wallet depletion machine is crippled,.....blower goes on for 1 min, then shuts off....still burning gas in the meantime although it is very low. Then it goes on only this time it's 45-50 seconds and so on to the point of going on for 5 seconds and it shuts down completely and starts all over. This was going on all night long.......

So I go to take my morning shower, ....
Water is just warm but it does that sometimes and then gets hot.....so I in there and it's not getting hot....it's getting cold really fast.....I'm cursing and running out of curse words,,,,......WTF!!!!:censored:...Jesus!,!!!!!! COME ON!!,!,!, You have got to be kidding me...!!!!....this can't be happening......

So I get out of the shower, get dressed ....go down to the rat hole to see what is up with THaT now!.....

Bend down- take the cover off....there is no pilot light....

So NOW....something tells me the problem is leaning towards a gas issue......

I go look at the flame on the "thing" the burners have a 1/2" flame - extremely low.........it sucked any fuel going to the HW tank to feed itself.......like I said the "thing" killed my water tank..........it's alive!!,!

.......

I call the gas company, meet up with the rep......opens the pissing stop and there is a huge amount of gurgling going on......

Turns his head and says "you have water in the feed line to the house".....great...what's next...

So he purges the line and blows it clean....comes down to my rat hole ,checks all my feed lines- all is good...turns the furnace on- Wa la! Flame and lots of it, light the HW tank- all is good!!!!

It wasn't my GV........

The good thing is all turned out with having to drop some coin -yet:rolleyes:......

I'm going to have to call them but I think there is going to be some digging going on my street.....:whistling

I walk by my rathole door .........im listening to this pulsing of my burners,,,,,,go down , open the almighty wallet depletion cover plate.....stick my head down there,......

oh...oh....

please tell me I am not seeing what I am seeing,,,,,,,

Water in the line........again.....

gas company is out there now.....scratching their head.....

I don't think they want to shift into excavation mode....but I think that's where this is headed this time.....

well see.....

meantime...they shut the main gas line off.....going on 1-1/2hrs.

temp is dropping like a rock in here.....my house is becoming "The Ice Box"......

oh this is great........

oh well,......

They are driving off..... no digging.....

Talked with the NFG rep and they replaced the meter....Even though he and I know dam well its going to happen again....

pressure meter was going from 2-10......and all over the place between there......

second shift is coming to find out what's going on... they may have to dig at the main and put a drip pot in.....

so what happens when that fills up...

Something I was thinking about....

Daryl, (the Service tech) wanted to go to my kitchen and turn the water on.......
turns it on and says "OK,...its all good"..........

What's all good?- no answer.......

so,
I was speculating that they thought there may be a water branch leak... could they be trying to place the blame on another utility company for my gas problem....

I asked them what was being done to correct the problem when they were here, and all I got was a deer in the headlights look first ,then they looked away and one guy said "I don't know what to tell you"

SERIOUSLY!.........."Your Joking"...write?

now......

WHAT!~ is UP!!~ with THAT!!!

Its almost like they know what's up but are not saying anything....I'm NOT KIDDING!

any thoughts.......,

silly Texan.....

no...........you guys may be able to do that in Taxas, but here in the north east that may mean the complete removal of a city block.....we have so many gas leaks here in Erie County ~ its alarming.....

Shawn- head Service tech told me that I am the proud owner of what they call "A Pissing Pot" (AKA -"dripping pot"), one of countless thousands planted throughout Erie County. They will come along and pump it out on a regularly scheduled maintenance punch list.

"What happens when that fills up faster than what is deemed acceptable for a pumping schedule" I asked...........

That: "I don't know" look appears again.......

My thoughts....
To be continued.....

Episode III
