Pro's new addition to the family prompted this. It's coming from an old guy but you all should listen.
I was taught that the only thing that can not be taken away from you is an education.
When my daughter was born, I set up a trust fund based on future college costs. I did the same for my son, born 2 yrs, later. Best money that I ever spent. My daughter is completing her Masters at the University of Vienna and my son opted out of education (against my will) and invested in property, not a bad investment here. His business is in vintage Stratocasters. It's an up and down business but his income matched mine one month.
Set up those college accounts! The rest of the world is catching up in intellegence!
If you need ask, I'll tell you how badly we are whupped.

My son specialises in Les Paul's. I will probably prove to be ignorant here, which I am. He has a white 'frettless wonder' that was played by Hendrix but only in studio, a few Jimmy Pages, a Buddy Holly, an SRV and a few others.
I play classical Spanish and Flamencan although I enjoy the blues of SRV and Hendrix. I keep hoping for the ghosts to come out and guide my fingers but they never do. Working hands can cover a narrow neck with 2 fingers, I have a hard enough time with a classical wide neck.
I also own a very nice 5 string banjo, having Keilbasas for fingers make playing it difficult but after 40 yrs., I have learned a few shortcuts.

I think that Steve Martin said it best, " You can't get a sad note out of a banjo'.
