Taken by an unscrupulous HVAC subcontractor

3409 Views 11 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  BuiltByMAC
I am in the unfortunate position of having paid 90% for 50% of the total work completed. Although I would like my sub to finish this job, he chooses not to return my calls to discuss the completion. I would prefer to have him finish the job than report him to a review board. Wouldn't know where to do that anyway. Any suggestions what to do?

Send a registered letter, hire someone to finish, hire a lawyer, learn from it.
Is this the first time you used this HVAC contractor?
If not. You should have seen signs of this type of situation coming up.

Who does your mechanical inspections in your area. they can tell you who to contact to make a report on him for your area/state.

Where are you located?

Does the HVAC sub have a license?

Why did you let him get so far ahead of you on the draw schedule?

welcome to the club. happens all the time. take the loss hire someone to complete and learn. Agreed. You are only wasting time by trying to get that guy back to the job.
2 sides two every story.. any adds on u just assumed you were part of job..any signed contract? kinda hard to comment with limited info..good luck anyway and now u know what not to do!
If this is a " Licenced contractor" He is under a perfomance bond. Report him,to the board, they will pursue the matter, they will hire someone to finish the job, he will have a bondsman looking for him. " Out of buisness"
Time to look for someone else. No sense in crying over spilled milk. It hurts to get burned, but there are plenty of square guys in the field who would be happy to help out in order to gain good faith.
It happens, I don't think this person posting is even a contractor....
call Guido.
