Summer heat

I live in snow coutry...this winter we had 275" of snow, weeks below 20*. We are forced to work outdoors in the winter since most of our work is on vacation homes. To some that would be torture, I'll admit it's harsh, but I think I prefer the cold.

I've been doing my folks 55 sq. roof this summer...it was upper 80's today and the heat kicked my A$$.

How the HELL do you folks down south do it?

funny, the northeast has been uncharacteristically cold this summer, and the south west the opposite. I heard something like 45 straight days of 100* in parts of Texas....geez, I just can't imagine!

I am looking forward to highs in the 80s. Probably mid October.

We are currently experiencing our worst drought since the 1950s.
Have already had 55 days this year over 100, the all time record is 69 days and all the forecasters are saying we will break the record. Every day in the 7 day forecast is over 100.

Our winters are nice though, only a handfull of days below freezing.

The same way we handle the cold up north. It's called acclimation. It's just down south, they don't have to stick their fingers up thier arses to get their nuts back out.

Ask me again in Feb. and I'm sure I'll be kicking myself for this post.
The older I get the harder it is
to deal with the heat.
Cold (to a point) I can still handle.

Cold I can handle. I can always put on another layer.

In the heat, however, I can only take off so much before I get arrested.

I can handle cold MUCH better than heat. I bring 2 shirts with me if its going to be hot, there is nothing worse than a smelly sweat soaked shirt.
I grew up in Mass. and hated the cold. I liked to play in it but working in it sucked.
I moved to Texas 32 years ago and I hate the heat. Playing in it sucks and so does working in it........but, I have been working 3 weeks in the sun with 98 degree heat and it doesn't feel all that bad ???? I must be acclimating.:whistling
some medications such as blood pressure and cholesterol meds can make you more sensitive to sunlight and heat

something ive learned
Funny I should find this post this morning. I just came home from church early because my 14 yo son passed out due to the heat. The heat always bothered him more than the rest of us. All is OK, the EMT's came and checked him out and our pediatrition says it is more common than we thought with kids his age. I guess he gets out of cutting the grass today. As others have said, I can't handle the heat as well these days. Can't wait till fall.

In all seriousness though, the heat can be very dangerous. I just found out last week that a guy I knew from years ago died after coming home from working in the heat and was not able to get cooled off. He was my age or a couple of years older than I am.

275" of snow !!!!??? Thats a lot of snow.
Us upstate NYer's have a lot of snow. Have you heard of "lake effect"?
Haha yeah any event that drops less than 8" is laughed at.
I can deal with the cold way better than the heat.
Only issue I have with real cold weather, is trying to take a leak outside.
I love it when people say " Oh you guys get used to the cold weather" Um.......No! We deal with it, but you never really get used to it. As I like to say: You don't see eskimo's in bikini"s!
Dieng from heat stroke or frost bite?

pretty sure the end result's the same!;)
No one has ever froze to death working (it's when they stop the trouble begins)
On the other hand, heat will kill You.

I dread the summer, I am comfortable with sweatshirts and lined jeans all thru the winters
