I will be tiling a bathroom soon. I currently ripped up 3/4 hardwood and now have have 3/4 pine as subfloor. House was built in 50’s. Before I tile I am adding ditra heat mat on top of subfloor. Tiler said It would not be a good idea to use all set on top of pine. I should add 1/4 ply wood on top of 3/4 pine. The pine is old. What type of 1/4 ply wood should I add on top to adhere to schluter allset I am using for ditra Matt ? My other thought was can I add hardie cement board 1/4inch inthe floor as an alternative to ply? My thought is if I add the cement board it will never come up if ever need to change the bathroom. What are your thoughts?
