I’m a fence contractor and I currently have employees working for me. I’m wondering what you guys who use subs do to find your subs. How do you typically find them and why do you prefer them to employees?

Find subs by what trade you are needing. Ask around, jeez is everyone afraid to talk these days?

Depending on the job i prefer employees.

Who do you see at the wholesale fencing yard ? Check at the counter for a reference and the bulletin board.

I often get recommendations from my supply house reps. Look for guys working in your neighborhoods and stop/talk to them.

Hell, I've taken pictures of lettered vehicles on the road when I see a trade I need or want to have a backup for.
