Hello,

I am about to start my own concrete business after being in the trade for over 11 years. The one aspect of starting my own business that worries me is trying to stay busy in the winter months. I live in PA and usually from Thanksgiving til beginning of March, work is always hit or miss.

I was interesting in hearing how other contractors stay busy during their slow periods in the winter months, besides plowing (we haven't had much snow fall lately, so that leads to the same boat, in my opinion).

Thank you for the input!

"We stay busy year round.

We pour concrete M-F except holidays all year long rain or shine.

The only difference from Nov. - March is we usually don't work Saturday's & wear more clothes.

If you have a skid steer put it to work (snow is not the only thing it can do in the winter). "

Awesome that you stay busy year round. I know its easier to do in the commercial end of things, residential building seems to slow around my area during the winter.
