Lmao!

A 2'x8' scrap of 3/4 ply is my jig material on every job. When i'm done it hits the scrap pile.If you have a 1/8" collet add 1/4" to the tread thickness(1/4" to the top),1/8" to the noseing(3/8" over riser) and 1/4" to the back side of the riser for 1x risers. Porter Cable back in the day did have a router jig for stairs that infrenged on a copywright and off the market they went.
If anyone has one laying around that they will part with let me know.

Brent, check out XXXXXX If you're looking for a jig, you might just ike what you see.

That wouldnt be the infamous stair jig that porter cable made like ten years ago or so?I remember seeing those in the local tool store and a few months later they were gone!I asked one of the tool reps what happened to the stair jigs and he told me it was the biggest blunder porter cable ever made. The tool worked great and looked cool too, but there was one major oversite-- they were not capable of making code legal tread and riser spacings. ooups!

Stair-Template

I apologize if this is not the time or place to plug our product but there are so many people asking where to buy a stair-template I think my response might help.

We are the source for a modern day stair-template similar to the old Porter Cable stair jig. Nobody has died as the various forums suggest.

Please feel free to call me and I will be glad to give you more information and a price. (908) 233-2600

stair jig / template

Hey all, I'm new to this forum. I don't want to beat this stair template thing to death here, but I have a project that I would like a little input on.

I am a manufacturing engineering student. It is my senior year and I have been assigned to choose a project, design it, and build it. I have chosen to design a new stair jig and I have some questions...

1. Those of you who make your own disposable template on each job, how
much would a jig have to cost for you to justify purchasing one?

2. Those of you who make your own jig, how long does it take to make
your jig from start to finish?

3. What maximum and minimum rise and run dimensions would you consider
practical or typically used (keeping code in mind)?

I want to make this as legal and usable as possible. My old man is a contractor so he'll be using it within his business.

Any answers to my questions and any other input you feel relevant would be greatly appreciated. :D

Thanks for reading!
