Smart phone (over) use

I am as guilty as some in this video, but the more I go on in life, I am looking at things more like the woman in the video. IMO, it is not exaggerated one bit. People's lives are glued to their phone. Supermarket checkout, at the beach, with friends...it's a perversion of what it should be. I guess the same goes for PC's, laptops, tablets, TV's...

Even though we have a tough new law on texting while driving, it is rampant here in Maine on the highways. I pass by 5 minimum a day, every day...and that is being very reserved. You can tell...they slow down, start wandering into the other lane...it's an epidemic.

That video is so accurate.
20 years ago a friend of mine would videotape every birthday party, Christmas etc etc. At every event all he did was look through his video camera. I told my wife then that I will not watch my kids grow up through a viewfinder, and I never did.

Why is it so hard for people to just enjoy the moment? instead everything has to be recorded and never to be watched.

Facebook makes this nosense even worse, everyone paying more attention to what others are doing, and all of it is nothing.

I am so glad I got to be a teenager when our only focus was on girls, no distractions, other than other girls. :)

They will be our downfall. ( I type from my I phone in bed at 12:30 in the morning. [email protected]!!!)
We went to go watch the Canada Day fireworks. It was a great show. What does my roommate do? Takes out his phone and films it. He was staring at his screen, not actually looking at the fireworks. So much for enjoying the moment. That bothers me.

Another roommate used to bring his iPad EVERYWHERE. Restaurant? Yup. Bonfire? Sure. When I told him he can't just take it out at a gathering he seemed bewildered. He didn't get how rude it was, completely killed the atmosphere.

I use my smartphone more than I should. That seems to be the way of it though.

Great, now I have guilt!....
If it makes you feel any better I removed face book from my phone, im two weeks dry
Remember when we would make plans with someone and agree to meet at a place and time? now we have to text "on my way". Yes these things will be our downfall.
Don't get me wrong I have a smart phone, I never never use the internet on it and text only from time to time. Not sure why I have it.

What really bothers me (other than guys not noticing hot chicks) is how much all this stuff costs.

I make a point when out with my kids to leave my phone at home. Drives the wife and kids nuts.
We have a rule at our house. No electronic devices @ the table for mealtimes.

My wife & I are talking about having a family device free day every so often.
Before smartphones, a longtime friend (female) used to give me [email protected] for answering calls and I didn't even take that many - mostly when a family member was calling and I kept it short. But soon thereafter she both had her nose in her smartphone all the time and was taking chatty calls all the time. So I got annoyed and said "what happened to the rudeness issue...?" and she always had some justification, blah, blah...

Anyway, for most people I think it runs it's course. Folks actually get smarter about it over time.
I only clicked on the video cause of the side boob.
This morning at the buss stop I played football with my boy and two other kids. The other parents were glued to the smart phone. We always hear people say "life goes too fast" so if life goes fast why on earth would you be on a smart phone vs playing with your child.

Most times when I see customers on smart phones they are on Facebook. If Facebook ever goes down I suppose we'll see people in the streets carrying photos saying "do you like my photo? Do you like it! DO YOU LIKE IT!!!!!!!!
