I've been doing a bunch of heated flooring lately w/ Warm Tile.

I've been encasing this in SLC. My procedure is usually to run 5/16ths Durock over a bed of thinset and install my heating element over the Durock.

I feel very confident w/ this method and have had no problems as a result.

The project I started today has me a little concerned about the final height of the tile when this is completed. I will be 1 1/4 higher than the floor in the bedroom.

I'm thinking of trying to skip the Durock this time and install the SLC directly over the plywood. My deflection limits are fine for the porcelain tile going in.

Prime-Lathe-SLC

Anyone feeling comfortable w/ this method? Ever run into problems doing this?

Thanks
