I'm seeing a major problem in the up coming years with new blood in the trades.
I just wanted to throw this topic out there for discussion .
We live in a province that if you have a drivers licence you can go work in the oil and gas industry and start out making a $100,000 per year driving a truck down the road.
It is next to impossible to find help, currently we are paying a helper $22 per hour and he can't read a tape measure or use a broom.
I think the high paying oil and gas jobs are hurting the trades.
What happened to the days when an apprentice started a trade and wanted to learn as much as possible to better themselves ......
So damn frustrating !!

Same thing in South Africa. There is a severe shortage of skilled labour, and it is causing a bubble where some people are charging ridiculous amounts and getting away with it. It is starting to cause a real distrust of some people in the industry :(
