I was looking at a job today. Replace the existing one piece tub ( big chip in it and cracking base ) with a new tub and three piece surround.
I measured wall to wall and the measurement is 58 1/4". Allowing for 2 pieces of 5/8" sheetrock will make the tub 59 1/2". It was a modular home and is only 10 years old. Are there one piece tubs that are 59 1/2"?
Has anyone installed a 60" tub in the 59 1/2" space by cutting back the studs. Anything to check other than the tub ledge being wide enough to bring the wall back to the 58 1/4"
Thanks

I have installed a 60 in a 59 for one of my plumbers rentals, I think it was a cheap steel tub. Just had to make sure deck was wide enough.

There are some 60's that don't measure 60. I have come across several but don't remember brand but they were cast iron

Thanks all
I am thinking 59 1/2" with 5/8 rock. If 1/2" rock the existing tub would be 59 1/4". It's a new customer so it's too early to cut a hole and check.
