Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help. I have an old home security system that has a zone that suddenly decided not to work. The zone acts as if there is a window or door on that zone that is not closed. Obviously, the doors and windows are shut, but the zone light won't go out, so I can't set the house alarm without bypassing that zone. The biggest problem is that there are 3 doors and 11 windows on the same zone, so it's difficult to pinpoint with window/door is the culprit. I have bypassed the zone on the control panel with a jump wire to determine that the problem wasn't with the circuit board. I had a friend tell me to then pull out each of the recessed switches on my windows/doors and test those. To test them, I cut the switch off and twisted the two wires together to basically bypass that window. Theoretically, if I did that one at a time for each window/door, eventually I would discover if one of the switches was bad. So, that leads to this message. I've removed the switches from the three doors that are used frequently and the two windows that have been opened in the last few years. Nothing. Zone light still on. Rather than remove the switch on the remaining 8 windows and discover it's still not solved, I thought I'd reach out to you all to see if you have any ideas. I've attached pictures of my control panel. Thank you!
