Under the deck,the wall gets the rain screen thing. I made flashing for under the rim too.

 

I am proud of the way this turned out. One of the rips against the wall varied 1/4".

 

We finished the outside today. I am gonna do most of the inside with the same thing. After the sheetrock is done.

 

What kind of wood is the t&g?

I've put up miles of pine, both 1by and 2by. Never fir- the pine twists and turns as soon as you pop the bands, how's the fir?

 

So far it is pretty stable. as far as i can tell.

Looks great! I love doug fir, I think it has one of the best grain/color combinations for natural finished woodwork.

It looks like you ran the steel joists for the deck wild. Am I seeing that right? How long does it take to cut them in place?

 

I am a little worried about that. We just cut them with a regular circ.saw.

 

My ears hurt just thinking about it.

 

I did buy a saw that is designed for steel That keeps the sparks and debris from flying so bad, but I don't think it helps with the noise.

 

Earplugs and outside hearing protection. I can't hear even my whiniest customers with that on so cutting steel should be no problem.

 

I wear'em when I'm turning stock or the kids want fruit snacks

That is what I was thinking ,but I am am not sure if I should drill all of them . It is weird , but only about half a dozen are dripping back on the house.

A guy down the road has a big 2 story with a wrap around porch waiting for us.
I would kind of like to have a couple days off!

 

azek decking with the plugs

 

We started the decking off the far offset ,the lined everything up off that.

 

This is the screened porch. The 6x6 cedar posts they sent me were not good enough so I am waiting for 7 good ones. Sometime next week.
The plan calls for clear s4s cedar. Special order, The ones they sent were nothing special. These have a nice sguare edge compared to a regular s4s 6x6.

 

98 truckloads of dirt made a big difference on the east side of the house. If this would have been done a year ago , would have saved me alot of time framing,
