Just uploading a picture of a bar I made up with a scrap axe head welded to it to remove roots in about 15 holes I drilled. I couldn't find anything really convenient or practical to remove them. Its got a good amount of weight on it so it rips right through the roots. Thickest one I did was about 5" , it's just a dummy bar I made up , I know it's not perfect but just throwing out ideas for people looking to remove some roots from a hole.

I have one of those, very useful. They are (or were at one time) made commercially. I forget what they called it.

I have a great tool for digging around roots too. I call it an apprentice and a laborer. While they do that a go make phone calls, review plans or go build something.😝

Nice tool though.

....for smaller roots. Or a sawzall with pruning blades for bigger ones.
